THERE WAS NO FLAW…

The law was not a flawed plan that caused God to require a solution. It was all part of His plan for us. The law was given to reveal sin. Although this brought about sin, it was needed (Romans 7:7-25). God created the world with the tree of life and the tree of Good & Evil, then the first law was given, “do not eat the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.

Now assuming this law was not given, eating the fruit would not have been a sin. However, eating it would cause them to have the consciousness of the fact that something can either be good or evil. By knowing what is good and evil, they were dependent on their knowledge to define how they acted (their morals) and were faced with another choice of picking Good or Evil. God always gives us a choice, the first was the choice to obey or not. With the choice of Good or Evil in the hands of men, chaos and confusion will emerge, because there is no law and God is not a God of confusion and disorder, but of peace and order (1 Corinthians 14:33).

Assuming again that with the law Adam and Eve did not eat the fruit and also assuming generations after also obeyed the law by not eating the fruit, we would all be under the ruling (from birth) of what God says is Good and Evil. So the order put in place at the beginning was not flawed, but I believe was set in place: (1) To introduce the law, (2) So man can be dependent on God and (3) To show how God intends His relationship with man to be. I read somewhere that this law was more a test of faith than obedience, faith in His leadership and direction. The serpent tempted Eve, telling her that if she ate from the fruit, she would be like God, rather than having faith in God’s ruling and she decided to do things her own way. Trusting in your own ability is not just detrimental to your progress because we as humans are flawed, it also gives the notion that you lack faith in God. So God knowing all this before the creation of the world ordained the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

“For He was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for your sake”

1 Peter 1:20[AMP]

Questions may then arise, why create man when He knows they could fail? and Is the fact that man failed not a flaw in His plan?. The answer to the first is that God is love and has to be expressed. God created man to express Himself as love and as the Trinity (Father, Son and Spirit). The second is simple, you cannot claim to love someone or that someone loves you without giving them a choice. If God created us without the ability of free will, then loving Him would not be a choice, it would be like having a relationship with a robot programmed to love you, it would not just feel real. Now the choice given to man means we are allowed to make decisions, it is the poor decisions we made outside God’s will that led to the fall of man and not God’s plan.

Now God has created a way for us to come back to Him, to come under His ruling and direction, His Son Jesus Christ. With Him, we can go back to the relationship God intended for us in the beginning before the fall of man. He has however still given us a choice to accept or not. History has proven that when we turn away from His plans, it never ends in our favour, why not accept Jesus today and turn back to Him, under His reign and will.
