I use this word interchangeably with the word Testimony. Remembrance, meaning dwelling in awe of the things God has done for us in time past. Remembrance of how God brought us out of impossible situations. Remembrance of the things He not only did for us, but for others as well, in situations that seemed hopeless. Remembrance of examples in the Bible, like the children of Israel and the Egyptians, Daniel in the lion's den, Queen Esther and Haman, and so on. Remembrance of how helpless we felt before He came through for us and the joy we felt after. By remembering His faithfulness in times past, we are given the faith to believe in Him in present situations.

A number of things were done in the bible to just to show God’s awesomeness.

“It was shown to you so that you might have [personal] knowledge and comprehend that the Lord is God; there is no other besides Him”

- Deuteronomy 4:35

These things were done so glory would be given to His name, but also to remind us, when in doubt, of His awesomeness and greatness. Remembrance can drive out fear. Remembering what He has said concerning us about who we are as His children, would give us the confidence to speak change to any situation we face. When we remember His faithfulness in times past, we are able to face current situations with boldness like the example of David and Goliath. When David first saw Goliath, he referred to the times God delivered to his hands, a Lion and a Bear, as a result he was bold enough to challenge Goliath and he was victorious. We should not just remind ourselves of God’s faithfulness, we should also remind those around us with our testimonies. Testimonies are not just for people to hear the wondrous things God has done in our lives, it is also to encourage those going through similar situations. Not just remembering, but giving Him Thanks as well. When in doubt, remember how He brought the children of Israel out of Egypt, remember how He gave Goliath to the hands of David, who was probably not even qualified to be in the King's army. Remember Abraham and Sarah who were classified as barren even in their own eyes, but were given a child at such an old age. Remember the numerous people Jesus Himself healed, while He was on earth, including raising Lazarus who had been dead for four days. These are not just stories but real life events. These testimonies are not limited to the people in the bible, these are miracles that are still very much possible and happening in our time.

Remembrance of His faithfulness also helps us in obeying His commandments and directions. When we remember His faithfulness, our faith in Him would increase. Remembering the rewards we received for obeying His directions in the past, would help us obey the current command given to us and also help us overcome temptations. We are comforted by the fact that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. So If He has done something in the past, He is more than able to do it again.

Remember that in order to fully benefit from His promises and His commandments, we must first of all become His own. To do this all we have to do is accept Jesus into our hearts. As Lord over us and believe that He died and rose again in order to bring us into His presence. Do this and see His mighty works.
