I’ve been selfish, although not purposely, but selfish nevertheless. You see I received t

he knowledge and understanding of who I truly am as a child of God and I assumed people have this same knowledge or (for some reason) refused to see it, I have kept this knowledge to myself. You see I have been selfish in my words, keeping things that could benefeit others to myself so as not to offend people or be perceived as judgemental by those I hold dear, and by so doing potentially robbing them of the newness I found in Christ.

BUT NOW I KNOW IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE!

So I am starting this with a testimony of how my life and perspective of life got changed. I used to struggle with depression and low self esteem. And although, at the time, I would refer to myself as a Christian, I did not truly understand what that meant. Now that I think of it, I was a traditionalist, who had fallen into the temptation of not understanding the meaning behind why I did what I did (according to the book ‘SACRED PATHWAYS’ by Gray thomas). I often second guessed my true intentions of doing what I did during my work with God. For example, a couple of times after giving testimonies in my church, I often felt like I had only done this to boast of the good things going on in my life and not necessarily to give God praise. Sometimes, this feeling was so strong that it led me to tears. This became a norm, sometimes crying and literally having no reason for doing so.

Then one day, a friend of mine, through I believe the direction of the Holy Spirit, showed me the verse Romans 8:1:

“ Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”.

Taking this word along with a series I listened to called ‘Deliverance from Satanic Oppression’ by Bishop Oyedepo, I was able to gradually bring myself from that state. Not stopping there but also discovering who God was to me personally and who I was in and to Him. You see by discovering my identity in Him, I was able to stop those voices that brought me down. I stopped condemning myself for everything I did or did not do. My work with Him stopped being about doing and became about my faith in Him (Galatians 2:16). This then advanced to me knowing my authority as His child and the privilege He has given me to come into His presence and lay my requests. And being the loving father that He is, He ALWAYS hears & answers me and I say that literally. This write up would not be enough to explain how He has responded to my all prayers, even the ones that seemed insignificant.

I would like to inform us about who we are and the authority we have as His children. We are the children of God, it is not just a saying but a reality. He has given His children the privilege to call on Him at any time for anything. Now don’t get me wrong, when I say He answers all my prayers I don't mean He gives me all I ask for, No, but He responds to my call. Believing in Him, became easier when I began to know who He is. When I read the testimonies of what He did for His children in the Bible. Especially when I am reminded time and time again about the sacrifice of His Son for me. You see we were created to fellowship with God personally and individually, but because of the fall of man we were taken from his presence and this fellowship became more and more difficult to achieve. But because of His desire to fellowship with us, His desire to dwell with us, He gave His son to die for us. Again this write up would not be enough to go in depth what this really means.

The question then arises, ‘Who are His Children?’, simple, those who receive Jesus Christ and believe in His Name (John 1:12). All it takes for a turn around in your life is to accept Jesus. You don’t have to sacrifice anything or fight any battle, He has done it all for us. Just ask for Him now to come into your life and begin to see His wondrous works in your life.
